this is the car that Brad Pitt drove and

0:01

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

0:03

[Music]

0:05

we are the largest movie car provider in

0:08

Hollywood so there's a good chance if

0:09

you see a movie with a car in it it came

0:11

from our lot

0:20

my name is Sean Grogan I'm one of

0:22

fabrication managers at Sumo vehicles

0:25

we have about 1100 cars on a lot

0:27

anywhere from police cars ambulance is

0:29

school buses 50s cars 40s cars 30s cars

0:32

military vehicles trailers taxi cabs

0:36

prison buses some of our cars are in

0:39

pristine condition some of them are

0:40

crashed some of them are burned I mean

0:42

you name it we have it on our lot

0:44

we've been in the business for over 40

0:46

years we've done tons of movies but some

0:49

of the ones you might recognize would be

0:50

gone to 60 seconds Die Hard Ant-Man and

0:54

the lost the Avengers Spider-Man 2 The

0:58

Hangover Mr and Mrs Smith rush hour and

1:02

the list goes on and on

1:05

[Music]

1:08

in our shop we have an upholstery

1:10

Department we have a fabrication

1:12

Department we have a mechanical

1:14

Department paint and body department and

1:17

a graphics Department the way that it

1:19

works is a production company will call

1:21

us and say they're filming a new movie

1:23

and they need X Y and Z and they'll send

1:25

us over basically a drawing of what they

1:27

want and then it's our job to turn that

1:29

drawing into reality

1:30

[Music]

1:31

one of the challenges that we run into

1:33

is finding multiples of the same car so

1:36

one point in time we turned a Chevy

1:38

Silverado pickup into a Rolls-Royce for

1:40

the movie The Sorcerer's Apprentice

1:43

okay

1:46

if we go to any one of a million sites

1:48

where you can find used vehicles they

1:50

don't have to be in running condition as

1:52

long as they look good and we can make

1:53

them run again that's the most important

1:55

part once that vehicle comes into the

1:58

shop we'll have our design team do some

2:00

renderings and drawings and spec things

2:02

out from there the upholster will change

2:04

the seats maybe we'll add seat covers

2:06

maybe we'll add Dash covers

2:09

once the upholstery shop is working on

2:10

their portion of it the fabrication team

2:12

is building custom parts

2:15

when the car is completed it'll go over

2:17

to our paint and body shop and from

2:18

there they will do all the body work

2:20

needed to make the car look like it's

2:22

pristine and then they'll go in and

2:24

they'll paint it

2:26

and then the mechanics will just check

2:28

the powertrain check fluids make sure

2:30

there's no leaks take it for a test

2:31

drive make sure the brakes are good but

2:33

make sure that when that car is on set

2:35

it doesn't break down

2:37

the last step is the graphics team will

2:39

print those logos up and then install

2:41

the graphics

2:42

[Music]

2:43

from there a production team will come

2:45

pick cars up and then we don't see them

2:47

again until the movie Shoot is over

2:48

[Music]

2:52

we're here in Building C where we keep a

2:55

lot of our cars that need to stay

2:56

indoors we have this lovely Pontiac

2:59

Firebird with the suicide doors from an

3:02

old commercial for uh Kentucky Fried

3:04

Chicken I think it's finger looking gold

3:06

one of my favorites is from from the

3:08

movie The Hangover but they were painted

3:10

brown for another movie

3:11

[Applause]

3:12

if you ever seen the show the Agents of

3:15

Shield this red Corvette is Lola

3:20

we are proud of the work that we do here

3:22

at Cinema Vehicles Hollywood wouldn't

3:24

operate the way that it does without us

3:26

when we see our cars on the big screen

3:28

it's one of the most gratifying things

3:30

to see the finished product

3:33

thank you
