If you took all injuries into account, there'd be hundreds.

0:04

The thrill of then becoming a Guinness World Record holder outweighs injuries.

0:15

VO: This is Lisa Pitman.

0:18

- Hello!

0:19

And this is Chris Pitman.

0:23

- Hello!

0:24

And together they're the world's most powerful couple.

0:39

Ow!

0:42

Lisa and Chris are both black belts in Tae Kwon Do and well trained in the art

0:47

of power breaking. What is power breaking you might ask? Well, it's this.

0:53

A single strike or kick that breaks a stack of materials.

0:57

Usually wooden boards

1:00

Or sometimes roof tiles.

1:04

And this couple isn't just well trained. They're both record holders.

1:08

Isn't that right guys? Guinness World Record holders.

1:09

Between us, we've got seven Guinness well records,

1:15

so basically we smash stuff.

1:18

I'm a seventh Dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Seven times European champion,

1:22

one time world champion, one time World Cup champion.

1:25

But really I was missing something,

1:29

which was a Chris.

1:32

We met and fell in love. Three months later on, I left my home in Wales,

1:37

left my business and traveled up to England.

1:40

It was literally a whirlwind.

1:43

This is my Tae Kwon Do hand, this is my normal hand.

1:47

No this is before Lisa. After Lisa.

1:51

My training started when I met Lisa 13 years ago

1:55

When I was his instructor. Very painful days. Very painful days.

1:59

She's still my instructor. It still, it is still painful days.

2:05

Our first ever world record attempt was in April, 2013.

2:09

We didn't really realize what we were getting ourselves in for.

2:12

You can't practice a thousand roof tiles -your body won't stand up to it.

2:16

We failed. We did both walk into the local hospital. The doctor said,

2:20

if you remember, she said,

2:21

"Either your hand is broken in several places

2:25

or you're made of iron."

2:25

Seems it was made of iron.

2:30

We were then invited on tv.

2:32

Chris broke the world record on that day and I didn't.

2:35

And he proposed to me on that day as well and I said I couldn't marry him until

2:39

I've done my own world record.

2:44

It all happens for a reason because then, third attempt - broke the world record

2:49

for the fastest time of breaking a thousand roof tiles.

2:54

"I am off to the hospital to get my hand checked out, but I'm fine."

2:58

We had three between us by the time we got married.

3:07

Oh God. That one. That's the one. - Yep

3:10

This was the most amount of pine boards broken in a minute.

3:14

B efore every world record and you see it set up, it's daunting.

3:17

Your stomach, you feel sick. It's awful.

3:19

The nerves and the fear of failure is just awful.

3:23

I didn't think it was possible.

3:26

Within that minute, it's like a day's worth of energy.

3:32

It was mad. We just went crazy.

3:53

The damage that'd done to my hand was significant.

3:58

That was the best feeling ever because we are celebrating together.

4:02

We're feeling amazing. We've helped each other achieve it.

4:07

People say, well, why do you do that? We inspire our children.

4:11

They absolutely love it.

4:12

It's almost like we do it for them. It's what makes the club go round.

4:16

One of our students said to us, when I get older,

4:19

I'm gonna break your Guiness World Record. And I loved it.

4:21

And I remember saying in the reply, "well, that's cool and I will help you."

4:25

Obviously, I won't (laughing) Obviously, I'll trip him up.

4:32

Hopefully next year we'll do another world record.

4:34

Make it a nice even number of eight, but then 10 sounds - double numbers -

4:39

that sounds good. (laughing)

4:45

We'll see.
