Hi everyone. I hope you're all good and
0:02
welcome to a new episode of Easy
0:04
English. So Easy and I are in our final
0:07
few days in Müster. [music]
0:09
So I thought I would head down into the
0:11
city center and make conversations with
0:13
non-native English speakers, Germans.
0:16
Now Germans are known for having a very
0:18
good level of English speaking. So I
0:21
thought I'd go down and speak to various
0:23
levels of from B1 to C2 English
0:26
speakers. And for you guys, you'll be
0:29
able to pick up on certain [music]
0:30
vocabulary that they're using and maybe
0:33
even get some good [music] tips and
0:36
tricks for how you can improve your
0:38
English speaking level. Uh, I hope you
0:40
all enjoy. Don't forget to subscribe and
0:42
here we go.
0:52
[music]
0:55
>> Hello.
0:55
>> Hello. Nice to meet you.
0:57
>> Yes. Nice to meet you, too.
0:59
>> Uh, how are you doing today?
1:01
>> Uh, we are twists.
1:02
>> You're tourists?
1:03
>> Yes.
1:03
>> Hi.
1:04
>> Hi. [laughter]
1:05
>> Nice to meet you.
1:06
>> Nice. Nice to meet you.
1:07
>> How are you two doing today?
1:09
>> I'm doing great. Yeah, I'm doing great.
1:11
>> Great. How's it going? How are you
1:13
doing?
1:13
>> I'm doing good. And you?
1:14
>> Very good. We're just walking through
1:15
through the streets and uh trying to
1:18
enjoy some uh sun.
1:20
>> Wonderful. And I'm good, thank you.
1:21
Okay. So, hi. Okay. Hi. [laughter]
1:24
>> How's it going?
1:26
How is it going?
1:27
>> Yeah. How are you doing?
1:28
>> Very well.
1:28
>> Yeah.
1:29
>> And you?
1:30
>> Uh, yeah. I'm a little bit cold, but I'm
1:32
really good. I'm really good.
1:33
>> It's cold.
1:35
>> Little bit cold.
1:36
>> Yeah. But today is warmer than
1:39
yesterday.
1:40
>> That's true.
1:41
>> Yeah.
1:41
>> It's also very English to speak about
1:43
the weather.
1:44
>> Yeah. [laughter]
1:45
>> Hi.
1:46
>> So, hi. Hi. How are you doing?
1:48
>> I'm good, thank you. How are you doing
1:49
today?
1:50
>> Yeah, pretty fine. We went to Müster
1:52
from our hometown, a small village.
1:55
close to Muna. It's 30 km and yeah, just
1:59
had a look here in the city and um just
2:04
watch here on the market and get some
2:07
Yeah. Uh something to eat.
2:09
>> We're living in Sabulen Z
2:11
>> in the near
2:13
from French.
2:15
>> Ah yeah. Really? Okay. Yes.
2:17
>> Nice. And uh so do you speak French? Uh
2:20
yes,
2:21
>> we [laughter] I we I
2:27
[laughter]
2:31
>> Are you looking for anything in town
2:33
today? Are you shopping? Are you just
2:35
wandering around?
2:36
>> I think both. Uh I think I was looking a
2:38
bit a little bit for new shoes, but
2:41
mainly just scrolling around and
2:42
>> yeah, nothing special. If you come
2:44
across something, then we will take it,
2:46
but we're not searching for a specific
2:48
item.
2:48
>> Nice. Are you from minster?
2:50
>> I'm I moved here for studying but
2:52
usually I'm from Frankfurt and
2:54
>> I studied in Frankfurt but I'm from the
2:56
north coast of Germany.
2:57
>> Okay. Nice. [snorts] Uh
3:00
>> I visited like this how do you call it?
3:02
Orizand.
3:06
Yes.
3:06
>> Really? [laughter] Wow. Okay. Yeah. I
3:08
went to like
3:10
really [laughter]
3:12
>> Wow.
3:15
>> I'm a shop barber shop here. Yes. And
3:19
Yes. And now I do my pose.
3:23
>> Ah, yeah.
3:24
>> Pause.
3:24
>> A break.
3:25
>> A break. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yeah.
3:27
>> Like a mux pose.
3:30
>> Know me pose. Yeah. [laughter] I'll do
3:32
it.
3:33
>> Yeah.
3:34
>> Thank you. You're also helping me.
3:36
>> Yeah. Again. [laughter]
3:38
>> And what are you doing today in the town
3:40
center?
3:41
>> Uh I'm here with my friends to drink
3:44
some coffee.
3:45
>> Nice. Okay. Yeah.
3:46
>> Are you like on a mint pow?
3:49
>> Uh, no. We finished university.
3:52
>> Ah, okay. What are you studying?
3:55
[laughter]
3:56
>> You don't have to tell me.
3:58
>> No. So, we're like doing um
4:02
boring stuff. Yeah.
4:04
>> Okay. That sounds suspicious. [laughter]
4:06
>> Yes. Um, it's like a dual stu study.
4:10
>> Okay.
4:10
>> So, practice and now it's
4:13
>> school kind of. And uh how long are you
4:16
making this uh study for? Like three
4:18
years, two years.
4:19
>> Three years.
4:20
>> Three years.
4:21
>> And then you will go on to do what?
4:23
>> Um we're going to work somewhere.
4:27
[laughter]
4:28
>> Why so secretive?
4:31
[laughter]
4:32
>> Okay. We we we skipped this bit.
4:34
>> Yes.
4:35
>> What in particular? Some like German
4:37
cuisine.
4:38
>> Um yeah, like potatoes. Uh smashed
4:41
potatoes. Uh so uh my girlfriend likes
4:45
uh the fish uh
4:47
>> fish and chips. Uh so also here uh it's
4:51
quite uh
4:51
>> Can you get fish and chips in Germany?
4:53
>> Uh not really. But um yeah um there are
4:56
some some uh yeah offers where you can
5:00
get like this.
5:02
>> But did you ever have like uh the
5:04
traditional English fish and chips
5:05
before?
5:06
>> No, not not now. Uh I went to London a
5:10
few times but never had fish and chips.
5:12
So
5:12
>> no. [laughter] Okay.
5:13
>> No, I have to try it. So uh when I um
5:17
yeah visit friend uh close to London
5:20
again next year maybe then I will try
5:22
that.
5:22
>> Nice. You should come to I live in
5:24
Brighton.
5:25
>> Have you heard of Brighton?
5:26
>> Yes. Yes. Yeah. Brighton Aian. So the
5:29
football club I'm uh Yeah. I'm good in
5:31
football clubs and I love playing
5:33
football. So
5:34
>> yeah. We have a German manager right
5:36
now. Ah yeah. Who who is it?
5:38
>> Uh Fabian.
5:40
>> Ah yeah yeah yeah. I think he was also
5:42
in the Bundesliga.
5:47

7:11
episode.
7:12
>> Are you learning English at the moment?
7:14
>> Yeah, in the in the school. One year in
7:16
the school and um
7:19
>> for only one year.
7:21
>> Only one year. Yes.
7:22
>> Wow. Okay.
7:23
>> But uh two months in England
7:26
learning uh
7:29
two
7:30
>> Okay. [laughter] And so you were
7:31
visiting England recently.
7:33
>> Yes.
7:34
>> And how do you learn English?
7:36
>> Um
7:38
I'm learning English uh with YouTube.
7:42
>> Oh, with YouTube? Okay.
7:43
>> YouTube? Yeah, just YouTube.
7:45
>> Interesting. Do you practice learning
7:47
English still or where have you learned
7:49
English? I have learned English in
7:51
school mostly. Um, and just now I don't
7:56
really speak a lot of English. No. Um,
7:58
no, but I watch a lot of English films
8:02
[snorts]
8:03
and movies um and stuff like that.
8:05
>> And your English is really good, I must
8:07
say.
8:08
>> Thank you. So, I'm speaking a lot in uh
8:11
in our office because we're an
8:13
international company, Figal Logistics.
8:16
It's also here a regional company and
8:20
there are we have uh yeah often contact
8:23
with uh international companies and then
8:24
we yeah must speak English.
8:27
>> And how about you? Are you
8:29
>> I've learned uh English in school too
8:30
and then after I finished school I spent
8:32
a year abroad in Tanzania
8:34
>> and so there I I was very happy that
8:37
some of my friends could speak English
8:39
so I could improve my skills a little
8:42
bit but most of them speak Swahili. So I
8:44
have I had to learn Swahili too. Wow.
8:46
Really?
8:47
>> Yeah. Oh, I'm very comfortable speaking
8:49
English.
8:50
>> That's really good. So, um, what advice
8:53
as the last question, what advice would
8:55
you give to people if they wanted to
8:56
improve their English speaking?
8:58
>> I think I maybe start like speaking with
9:02
your friends. Maybe just start as a
9:04
joke. I think I did it with like a
9:06
couple of my friends. So we started like
9:08
including it in our uh language but I
9:11
think mainly start to watch it on via
9:14
via TV series or movies and then with
9:17
subtitles and I think that's the
9:18
easiest. We we have uh talk with many
9:23
peoples uh with our bad English
9:27
uh but
9:29
was no enough.
9:31
>> Yeah, it is enough. I think your English
9:33
is good enough to order drinks, order
9:35
food.
9:35
>> Yes.
9:36
>> Buy tickets.
9:37
>> What's not a problem? No.
9:38
>> Um living and talking to people is I
9:41
think more or better like just learning
9:44
it on frontal. So exchanges or something
9:47
are always a very good thing I think. Um
9:51
if you already have a base like for your
9:54
English. So if you already have learned
9:57
English in school and then use movies or
10:02
films to
10:05
not forget the language then that's
10:07
great. But I think also speaking with
10:09
people is more of the way to really
10:12
improve it and get better.
10:15
>> Yes. And like in Tanzania the people
10:17
they weren't native speakers too. So one
10:20
of us made mistakes but that's totally
10:22
fine because like we could have each
10:24
other and everybody talks and but like
10:27
even with mistakes everybody understand
10:29
what you want to say. So it's totally
10:31
fine.
10:32
>> When I was younger when I've uh yeah
10:35
played uh PC and like video games and so
10:39
on. Yeah. Counter strike and some
10:41
[laughter] World of Warcraft.
10:43
>> Everyone says Counter Strike. Yeah.
10:45
That's really uh I think the the games
10:47
where you learn English when you're
10:49
speaking with the others.
10:51
>> And how what what uh recommendations
10:53
would you give?
10:53
>> So my advice would be bring yourself
10:55
into a situation where there's no
10:59
possibility to speak with uh foreign
11:02
languages. So where only possibility is
11:05
to interact with people from different
11:07
languages and you are yeah forced to
11:10
speak English. So, I think that's the
11:12
best way to learn it
11:13
>> in in the at the deep end of the pool.
11:15
>> Yeah.
11:16
>> Nice. I think that's a good idea, too.
11:17
Yeah. Great. Well, thank you very much.
11:19
Nice to meet you so much. Have a nice
11:20
day.
11:21
>> I hope you are visiting again soon. Nice
11:23
to meet you.
11:24
>> Yep. Nice to meet you, too. [laughter]
11:26
>> Hi.
11:26
>> Nice to meet you,
11:27
>> both of you. Have a nice rest of your
11:29
day.
11:29
>> Yeah. Thank you. Have a nice day.
11:31
>> Was nice to meet you.
11:33
>> Yeah. Nice. Me, too. [laughter]
11:37
>> Thank you for your time. We appreciate
11:39
it. Have a nice rest of your day.
11:40
>> Thank you.
11:41
>> Thanks. Bye. [laughter] Great. Well,
11:42
have a nice rest of your day. I hope you
11:44
find your fish and chips.
11:45
>> Yeah. Thank you.
11:47
>> Thanks for watching this week's episode.
