it helped me bond with my dog
0:03
that's great it gave us
0:05
another area that was common to both of
0:08
us that we could just crack on and have
0:10
a laugh
0:11
grow together you live somewhere like
0:14
Brighton then you're just you know
0:16
you're spit and you hit a creative
0:18
where'd you do it
0:20
um where do I do yeah
0:22
anywhere yeah you listen to the music
0:25
and you dance to the beach on my own
0:27
mate in the rain in the snow oh
0:29
dedicated yeah not like the rest of them
0:31
do you have a cute dog can I get you
0:33
yeah he's called the Domino he's nervous
0:35
the mass participation of it is not
0:37
really the thing I'm into Bailey's
0:42

I've got a
1:01
diverse portfolio of hobbies
1:06
um including but not limited to uh
1:09
writing uh
1:13
burgeoning interest in music and uh
1:17
a neglected uh aptitude for art
1:23
um as a hobby I just um delved more into
1:26
reading kind of um went back into
1:30
existential questions because we were
1:33
kind of um facing something quite
1:36
um meaningful in terms of
1:38
how we live together as a society and
1:41
how we kind of um face death I suppose
1:44
with um with covert kind of rearing it's
1:47
um in the presence of nature what is
1:49
your hobby my hobbies I like dancing
1:52
okay reading what kind of dancing do you
1:56
know the afrobeats there's a kind of
1:57
person in Africa they call it Fuji dance
1:59
so it's afro it's it's a funny kind of
2:03
dance you cannot understand what's
2:06
beautiful look it up what is your hobby
2:08
uh drawing drawing drawing more mostly
2:11
buildings what is your hobby uh probably
2:13
walking the dog what is your hobby my
2:16
hobby is badminton what is your hobby my
2:20
hobby well my main hobby is photography
2:23
which is also part of my business but my
2:25
business side is I do portrait
2:26
photography and wedding but my hobby is
2:28
more uh sort of capturing people street
2:31
photography just kind of trying to
2:33
capture the moment of day-to-day life so
2:35
that's my hobby hobby of the moment is
2:37
running so I do that um at least four or
2:40
five times a week
2:47
[Music]
2:50
that rock
2:53
[Music]
3:02
is this all like a delicate touch kind
3:04
of thing a little bit
3:10
to keep as many wheels planted on the
3:13
ground
3:14
but we have plates we have to go through
3:17
competitions and they could be in the
3:19
most obscure places you've ever seen

4:08
um I think you live somewhere like
4:10
Brighton then you're just you know you
4:13
spit and you hit a creative so yeah yeah
4:17
and yeah typically juxtaposed with
4:19
Barista life
4:24
can't get away so I took up writing oh
4:27
really
4:28
um creative writing especially just kind
4:31
of um learning how to kind of get in
4:33
touch with my my feelings and my
4:35
thoughts but um the general busy
4:39
Lifestyles we leave
4:41
um haven't really allowed me to how
4:43
often do you go
4:44
oh how often do I go where yeah go
4:48
dancing oh no I do it as an hobby so I
4:51
do it very often just my break time at
4:54
home anytime you can just yeah yeah you
4:58
would do it today yeah who fought for
5:00
you
5:01
I'll buy a shell them off as well I do
5:03
you have galleries I put them on um
5:06
uh yeah and uh I'll put them online but
5:09
uh my uh Facebook page is uh named after
5:12
me band it's the James Hunter six so I I
5:15
show them off up there when I do them
5:17
this is just this is said Doug
5:19
Bailey hello
5:22
[Laughter]
5:26
okay and how often uh do you do your
5:29
hobby oh every day I've been playing
5:31
badminton since I was a kid uh and a
5:34
teenager and then returned to it more in
5:36
my 30s and 40s and play all along at
5:38
various clubs along the coast here Hove
5:41
being the main one did you ever consider
5:43
taking it up professionally yes I try to
5:46
be a coach and um it turns out it's
5:49
really hard and how often do you go out
5:52
like the hobby side how often do you do
5:55
like the hobby side of it maybe once
5:58
every Fortnight I try to kind of go out
6:01
and um get to photograph street
6:03
photography have you ever considered
6:05
doing like a charity half marathon or
6:08
something I've done a few done a few but
6:11
I don't like call them the mass
6:12
participation of it is not really the
6:14
thing I'm into all right okay A bit of
6:16
solitude are yours is like a mindfulness
6:17
kind of mainly yeah just a bit of time
6:19
for yourself really and how often do you
6:21
do it a week should you say I I'm out
6:23
every day if I can oh really yeah wow if
6:26
I've got no work on or it's nice sunny
6:28
evening yeah you'll find us down here
6:30
I'm writing a book
6:32
um yeah uh novel whatever you want to
6:35
call it
6:37
um I won't divulge anything concerning
6:40
that but yeah that's my primary interest
6:42
it's more difficult now to keep us up
6:44
yeah because it's um you know it seems
6:48
that we we're having less and less time
6:50
but um you know you still got time with
6:53
my dog here yeah you have a cute dog can
6:56
I get your dog
6:57
he's nervous
7:03
I have a lock down dog too really yeah
7:06
absolutely and uh how often do you pay
7:08
how could you draw sorry how often yeah
7:10
not often enough really yeah I mean I
7:13
should be writing songs so I sometimes
7:15
I'll do that when I'm supposed to be
7:16
doing that and uh would you say that
7:18
your hobby is uh sort of a solo project
7:21
or is it yeah because everyone else is
7:23
too lazy to walk with me
7:27
on my own mate in the rain in the snow
7:29
oh dedicated yeah not like the rest of
7:32
them and who'd you play with uh friends
7:34
or there's a social there's a club where
7:35
you can just turn up as you're just an
7:38
individual and loads of individuals just
7:40
turn up do you run with music or no
7:41
music no music just the birds the wind
7:45
the element the elements my dogs okay so
7:48
then what do you what do you think about
7:49
anything or are you just I try and clear
7:51
my head actually yeah I've got a really
7:52
busy day job so there's a lot it's
7:54
full-on so it's nice to just have a few
7:57
hours
7:58
you know and during the week where you
8:00
just literally not think of anything but
8:01
ultimately things do pop back into your
8:04
head again it helped me bond with my dog
8:07
that's great it gave us
8:09
another area that you've come to both of
8:12
us that we could just crack on and have
8:14
a laugh and
8:15
grow together walking and thinking as a
8:19
product of lockdown is kind of something
8:21
that
8:22
um he's learning he might not love it as
8:24
much as I do but he's destined to do it
8:27
for the rest of um I think our lives and
8:29
how did you sort of discover running
8:31
then I've always been a bit I've always
8:34
been outdoorsy but um I guess I was I
8:37
lived in London previously so
8:39
trying to find any kind of space was was
8:41
a was a hard thing to do but then you
8:43
get to
8:45
move down to Brighton there was this the
8:47
Downs the beach so there's more space so
8:49
I just kind of discovered it by walking
8:52
first and then you know I need to get a
8:54
bit fitter and been doing it for years
8:55
now you get lost in it but you
9:00
each part of being part of a group yeah
9:03
like-minded Souls people call this Geeks
9:06
yeah
9:07
because they're into like by detail but
9:10
it's it's just why don't you put that
9:13
down and pick that up and have a go
9:15
yeah can I never go okay thanks for
9:18
watching this week's episode let us know
9:21
in the comments below what hobbies you
9:22
get up to in your time off and what
9:24
hobbies you'd like to pick up in the
9:26
future and as always we'll see you next
9:29
week Torah
9:32
[Music]
9:36
[Applause]
9:37
[Music]
9:38
