we took like a seven month break from
0:02
work it's just really embarrassing like
0:05
excruciatingly embarrassing can I ask is
0:07
your dad still with us no no he passed
0:10
away in 2012. so you're literally taking
0:13
a trip down memory lane we are indeed
0:14
but I've actually managed to convince my
0:17
family to let us get married there are
0:19
you uh live every day to its fullest
0:21
potential kind of person yeah why not we
0:23
look like strangers at the start and now
0:26
we all just like we got we got along so
0:28
well starting out in a big tech company
0:30
is kind of the dream that you would have
0:31
right so yes they could say that
0:34
entire happy New Year and welcome to
0:37
easy English today I want to find out
0:39
what makes Brits happy I went down to
0:42
ask the people of Brighton for their
0:43
happiest memory or times where they fell
0:46
out their best as always before we get
0:48
started don't forget to like And

1:14
it's probably
1:16
uh when we went traveling around the
1:19
world we each went on the trans
1:22
Mongolian Railway so we're remembering a
1:25
game that we played at Christmas with my
1:27
family which was really good fun so it's
1:29
called accentuate
1:32
a table and including
1:34
um Stu's mum who is like what 81 yeah so
1:37
you pick a card and it has a whole heap
1:40
of accents on it right
1:42
Scottish Russian polish Surfer Dude
1:46
things like that and then you pick up a
1:50
movie quote and you've got to read the
1:52
movie quote in the uh accent that you've
1:56
picked up and hilarity ensued I went
1:59
with my dad over to Spain and there was
2:02
a waterfall there and basically they
2:05
turned it on that day particularly when
2:08
me and my dad were there so we we got to
2:11
actually uh jump off the rocks from the
2:13
top down to the bottom and it was it was
2:15
fantastic kept going up up and down up
2:18
and down and up and down you know all
2:20
day long coming back to Brighton's day
2:22
after a long time away with my mother
2:24
yes we used to live here in the 1970s so
2:27
we but this was all a very run down area
2:29
of Brighton oh really it's a reminiscing
2:31
of what Brighton used to look like 40
2:32
years ago probably when I was um a kid
2:35
my parents used to send me to India for
2:37
the Summers almost the rest of my family
2:39
lived there and my grandmother's got
2:41
like a farm an orchard in South India
2:44
the Earth is like this really red color
2:46
and it's like got all the tropical
2:47
fruits through goes loads of like
2:49
bananas and guavas and like limes and
2:53
there's um like peacocks that are just
2:55
there they'll come and eat all her
2:56
vegetables so they'll be like chasing
2:58
them away but to me they were always
2:59
like really beautiful to be there trying
3:01
to like encourage peacocks to come onto
3:03
our Orchard and she's spending all this
3:05
time trying to chase them away well
3:07
being with my family so I've been with
3:09
Abby being with my husband being with my
3:12
dog family yeah yeah yeah and just and
3:16
enjoying people enjoying today being you
3:18
know being grateful that we've got a
3:19
lovely day and we can walk along here
3:21
and appreciate
3:22
as being you know out in the open air
3:24
really I think recently like we're at
3:26
University together in Winchester not
3:29
here but like we had a big Christmas
3:30
meal with our flatmates and that was
3:32
really fun that was just before
3:34
Christmas just before you like finished
3:35
for yeah to go back home so that's fine
3:38
and that's like festive it was in a pubs
3:41
like we didn't cook it okay okay yes we
3:44
went out and got it um at the park
3:47
um so I did ancient internship in my
3:49
dream company and then just when I
3:52
finished I was immediately offered a
3:54
full-time job after uni and part-time
3:56
job during my last year so that was
3:58
probably the happiest ever
3:58
congratulations that recently yes I was
4:01
in well a few months ago yes

4:35
back to the episode so we traveled from
4:37
the UK to China all over land so we
4:41
didn't fly at any point so it's really
4:43
so batteries and trains and buses and
4:47
the trans Mongolian Railway and one of
4:50
the highlights was Mongolia so we stayed
4:52
with a Mongolian family out in their gur
4:56
in the uh the step in Mongolia and it
5:00
was yeah it could go be in the Gobi yeah
5:03
Pergo was ago I mean we were all
5:05
absolutely crying with laughter and so
5:08
then will this game be making a
5:09
reappearance next year definitely it'll
5:12
be making a reappearance throughout the
5:13
year as many as many times as possible
5:15
and why was it so happy did you have a
5:17
good relationship with your dad no not
5:20
really but it was the second part of my
5:22
life you know and I got to know him a
5:24
bit better and
5:25
I just kind of become mates or something
5:28
yeah yeah yeah
5:30
so uh yeah we had a lot of catching up
5:33
to do it's one of the only men well I've
5:36
got loads of memories but one of the
5:38
biggest memories I've got yeah and that
5:41
kind of uh don't leave you with a good
5:43
lasting impression of your your dad yeah
5:46
yeah yeah it did what is it about
5:49
Brighton that you know it brings you
5:51
happiness happiness then
5:53
it is it is memories it's it's it is of
5:56
you know simpler times when you were
5:58
young and carefree and that didn't have
6:00
responsibilities it's actually when I
6:02
was a kid I really wanted to get married
6:04
there and um it's not really a thing
6:07
that you can do in India because you
6:08
have them in like you have to have your
6:09
wedding in like a contained space but
6:11
I've actually managed to convince my
6:13
family to let us get married there
6:15
really this summer so um yeah and I get
6:18
to take all my friends there and show it
6:20
to them so you're saying now is the
6:22
happiest moment in your life kind of I
6:24
think you appreciate things more as you
6:25
get older yeah I think there's different
6:27
times when you're younger obviously
6:29
different you know but how do you mean
6:31
that you appreciate things more as you
6:33
get older well I just think you
6:34
appreciate the things that matter more
6:36
this obviously isn't your end game but
6:38
it's just like starting you on like a
6:39
ladder I mean it's starting on like a
6:41
huge like high up you know like 10 steps
6:44
above everyone else so it's kind of very
6:45
lucky and I'm very grateful for it every
6:48
day and makes me happy every time I
6:50
think about it so are you like out
6:51
celebrating recently no actually this is
6:54
the first yeah we didn't have time which
6:56
is why now it's gonna be I think on the
6:57
weekend maybe we will celebrate finally
6:59
like kind of yeah it's time now and have
7:01
you started the job yeah I am still
7:03
working there part-time now but the full
7:05
time starts in summer so yeah it's just
7:07
it just keeps going you know thanks for
7:08
watching this week's episode let us know
7:10
in the comments below moments that made
7:12
you happy in your life or memories that
7:14
you'd like to reminisce about with
7:15
family friends or loved ones and as
7:17
always we'll see you next week
7:20
