the people are so friendly and the
0:02
nightlife is uh just amazing from a
0:05
history point of view i didn't realize
0:06
it used to be the capital of england
0:08
before london
0:09
you just like feel accepted here no
0:11
matter like who you are and what you
0:13
look like or right anything like that
0:15
it's just a nice city just nice vibes
0:18
from everyone you can look over to
0:20
france and you can
0:21
take it 17 miles
0:23
and on a good day you can see the lights
0:25
you can see sort of people and the
0:27
network from mobile phones changes to
0:29
the french mobile network in the past
0:31
you used to be able to drink water there
0:33
horrible but
0:35
it's a bit of history isn't it hello
0:37
welcome to easy english so today i'm on
0:39
brighton beach and i want to know which
0:41
english city brits love the most
0:44
before we get started please don't
0:46
forget to like and subscribe
0:49
here we go
0:50
tell me what is your favorite city in
0:53
england
0:54
i can't see manchester manchester yeah
0:57
what is your uh favorite city in england
1:00
uh my favorite city is winchester okay
1:04
just north of slam den and reasons being
1:06
is probably the first place where
1:09
i got the
1:10
taste of gin
1:12
okay mine would be london
1:15
um
1:16
just because it's good shopping up there
1:18
shops are bigger up there lots of
1:20
atmosphere
1:21
you know very busy okay so london where
1:25
is your favorite city brighton of course
1:28
yeah of course okay let's go into the of
1:30
course why is that uh because it's by
1:32
the sea
1:33
there's loads going on
1:35
there's loads of vegan options because
1:37
i'm vegan obviously pink hair
1:42
so you don't have a favorite city right
1:44
let's get this straight but you have a
1:46
favorite place
1:47
yeah okay and i'd like you to tell me
1:49
about your favorite place so my favorite
1:51
place is called deal and it's in kent
1:54
um we've had a holiday home there since
1:56
i've been a child because i used to come
1:58
over from germany and dover and deal are
2:00
the closest places when you come over
2:02
from germany the question is what is
2:04
your favorite city in england but you
2:06
don't have one because you're no i
2:08
couldn't i'd do an english one if you if
2:09
you want an english one i'd actually
2:11
like to hear what you're because you're
2:12
not far off from england okay so if you
2:15
want to say what your favorite city is
2:16
right
2:18
strom now are you recording now then
2:20
yeah
2:22
okay
2:24
um my favorite city in england is
2:26
brighton that's where i live and it's
2:28
fantastic but my favorite city in our
2:30
area is dublin before we carry on with

3:11
now back to the episode
3:13
what is your favorite english city it's
3:15
bath
3:16
because it's got a lot of history with
3:18
the roman baths which are beautiful and
3:21
obviously they're very very old and then
3:22
you've got the very modern because
3:24
they've got a new spa which you can go
3:26
and visit and sit on in the water and
3:28
look at the city you've also got the um
3:30
the pump room which is uh fantastic as
3:35
well where in the past you used to be
3:36
able to drink the water there horrible
3:39
but
3:40
it's a bit of history isn't it and
3:41
there's a fantastic costume museum as
3:43
well and then just outside bath is an
3:46
american museum so you've got a little
3:47
bit of everything there wow it really is
3:49
your favorite city and you can walk
3:50
around do some lovely shopping too
3:52
[Laughter]
3:53
and don't forget the famous cake you've
3:55
got the um the what's it called the
3:58
saline i think it's called but which is
4:01
uh
4:01
um
4:03
it comes from bath so
4:05
it's another another thing that it's
4:06
famous for wow
4:08
and it's got a good university with some
4:09
of the best sporting facilities in the
4:12
country what would you say is the best
4:14
thing about manchester united
4:17
oh you know
4:18
um final football first right yeah i
4:22
love football i like football yeah and
4:26
at the time when i was in manchester for
4:28
me it was amazing
4:30
to be in manchester because i'm a big
4:32
fan of man united okay yeah me too
4:36
all right big fan big fan
4:39
the time i was there it was the time of
4:43
the time of ryan geeks one rooney uh 200
4:47
when the window the 2008 champions
4:50
league really yes did you get to watch
4:52
any games yeah yeah
4:54
yeah wow
5:08
yeah good time yeah yeah yeah good time
5:10
it was a good time right yeah you just
5:12
liked it because there was a good
5:14
atmosphere or something exactly
5:16
exactly i didn't really have gin before
5:18
that and it's got really good
5:20
architecture
5:22
so my plan planner architecture i'm
5:24
really into
5:25
historic buildings good design
5:27
of gin
5:29
history and architecture but is it gin
5:31
made in winchester it's not but the
5:33
majority of bars
5:35
within winchester
5:37
are gin baseballs
5:39
right
5:40
as a person from swansea we didn't
5:42
really drink gin
5:44
moving there it became part of
5:46
probably my diet it's become part of my
5:48
diet in the end
5:50
theaters as well we've been obviously
5:52
there's no shows up there yeah the west
5:55
end yes theaters yeah yeah what have you
5:57
been to see in london god we've seen um
6:01
dirty dancing
6:04
what's the one with wicked yeah who's
6:07
the who's the singer
6:10
gloria rester fan story that was quite
6:12
good right yeah just all different
6:15
ranges if something catches our eye
6:17
where make the effort to go up there and
6:19
is that generally the area of london you
6:21
go to when you go to visit london
6:23
obviously it's an absolutely
6:24
ridiculously massive city to visit
6:26
do you spend most your time sort of that
6:27
west end yeah we do and mainly where
6:30
oxford street okay yeah yeah you're sort
6:33
of so friendly greenwich that we stay in
6:35
and then but we always go into the city
6:36
rather than
6:37
stay in greenwich it's got shops bars
6:40
restaurants
6:41
um it's got like really beautiful
6:44
architecture historical architecture
6:46
like the pavilion such an office
6:49
um pavilion it's got beautiful churches
6:51
got lovely walks you've got the south
6:54
downs you can go rambling if you enjoy a
6:57
bit of that you know
6:58
it's got everything deal is just it used
7:01
to be quite nondescript and
7:03
but now it reminds me of brighton maybe
7:05
as it was in the 90s little pop-up shops
7:08
um cafes
7:10
and it's just a little bit further from
7:12
london um so perhaps a bit more
7:15
difficult to set up than brighton was at
7:17
those times
7:18
yeah but it's got independent shops it's
7:20
got a charm
7:23
and it's quite small yeah so you can
7:26
you can just walk the high street quite
7:28
quickly really um and perhaps
7:31
well you can stop and make it last two
7:33
hours but if you walk quickly you can
7:34
walk it in ten minutes so
7:36
you can just pick and choose and go to
7:38
your favorite place they're just super
7:40
friendly and
7:41
really welcoming and we were just there
7:43
there was a pub we was in where there
7:45
was traditional irish music being played
7:46
and we were just sitting having a
7:48
guinness and a wine and suddenly these
7:50
ladies come over and get asked my wife
7:52
permission whether i could be dragged up
7:54
and uh that's like they could dance me
7:56
and stuff and that's doing the old irish
7:58
jig and everything yeah it's brilliant
8:00
oh wow that sounds brilliant what
8:02
great experience as you live there would
8:04
you describe yourself as i don't know
8:06
how do you describe people who are from
8:07
bath well i'm not from bath a bathroom
8:10
i'm from i'm from somerset
8:12
um
8:13
that we used to visit bath because it
8:15
was the nicest shopping area nearby for
8:17
christmas shopping i see so you're from
8:19
somerset and do you have any uh do you
8:22
have any character traits of someone
8:24
from somerset like an accent yes the
8:26
somerset accent is stronger on the r's
8:30
so you tend to use ours a lot
8:33
um
8:34
and there was one phrase which i
8:36
remember from my from my youth which is
8:38
a bigen which is a great big one so
8:42
again sorry a gert biggen
8:44
so they are in the wrong place yeah and
8:46
it's much stronger
8:49
and then from bristol in the bristol
8:51
area
8:52
they tend to put l's on the ends of
8:54
words so if you come from this ariel
8:58
wow very good
8:59
thanks for watching this week's episode
9:01
let us know in the comments below your
9:03
favorite english city if you have one
9:05
and we'll see you next week bye
9:08
this week i want to know
9:10
which english city which english
9:13
which
9:14
which english which english
9:17
city
9:18
shitty which english
9:21
cut
9:22
this is so difficult to say
